As the nation’s economy continues to struggle against the lingering effects caused by the COVID pandemic, record setting levels of inflation, nationwide strikes and a myriad of other setbacks, most small towns face shuttered doors and posted “Closed” signs; yet the Five Star City is living up to its motto by announcing three grand openings of businesses during the course of one week.
Senatobia Main Street partnered with the Tate County Economic Development Foundation to line up a fun-filled week for residents to get out and get an up close and personal introduction with the town’s newest businesses.
The first business to celebrate was Acai Bowl located at 115 Northwest Plaza. The event was held Monday, Feb. 6, and drew a crowd of hungry customers ready to try the store’s variety of healthy sorbets.
Next, Cadence Bank, located at 5100 US Highway 51, held a ribbon-cutting event Thursday, Feb. 9. Branch Manager-Lender Forrest Mallory announced the merger between BancorpSouth Bank and Cadence Bank would only produce a better new bank. Mallory said a priority would be how the bank works to help people, companies and communities it serves.
To round out the week, Magnolia Eye Group held its ribbon cutting Friday, Feb. 10. Dr. Steve Edwards, and his two sons, Dr. Taylor Edwards and Dr. Hunter Edwards, currently own the eye care clinic at 106 East Main Street but have already purchased a plot of land located on US Highway 51 across from Mike’s Food and Gas to construct an expanded clinic.
In addition to the growth seen last week in Senatobia, three more ribbon-cutting celebrations have been announced for February.
First up will be Senatobia’s newest coffee shop, Dunkin. The event will be Saturday, Feb. 18 at 9:30 a.m. located at 100 Norfleet Drive.
Next will be Blue7 Smoke Shop on Thursday, Feb 23 beginning at 2 p.m. The store is located at 140 Collonade Plaza.
To finish out the month, Healing Hands Massage Therapy, 110 Court Street, will hold a grand opening event Friday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m.
