A man arrested for his role in a Coldwater murder in 2019 will spend the next several years behind bars.
Documents from Tate County Circuit Court show Montreal Deyunta Hibbler, 29, of Sarah, pleaded guilty Thursday, March 5 to a second-degree murder charge and sentenced to 30 years in Mississippi Department of Corrections and 10 years post-release supervision. Hibbler had a conspiracy charge remanded to the file.
Hibbler and two men were taken into custody in December 2019 and charged with murder and conspiracy in connection with the shooting death of Cameron Reed, 20. A circuit court spokesperson said the charges were eventually dropped against the other suspects.
A report from the Coldwater Police Department states officers responded to a call of shots fired Oct. 13, 2019, at the Terrace View Apartments at 621 Dougherty Street at approximately 10:51 p.m.
According to the report, officers discovered Reed’s body lying in the doorway of apartment No. 1 after arriving on scene. The Tate County coroner pronounced Reed dead a short time later. The police report states Reed had been shot multiple times
