Senatobia High School gave a solid defeat to Water Valley at Varner Field Friday night when the Warrior sent the Blue Devils home with a 44-14 loss.
The Warriors set the mood for the night by scoring fast in the first quarter taking the lead and keeping it throughout the game.
Senatobia’s Ja Brysten Abrams, 2, ran back a touchdown for the Warriors with 11:48 on the clock in the first. The Warrior’s point after kick was good putting Senatobia ahead 7-0 against Water Valley.
On the next possession, the Blue Devil’s couldn’t find traction on the field and remained scoreless.
With 8:19 on the clock in the first quarter, the Warrior’s Luke Singuefield, 17, took the ball over the goal line adding to the lead for Senatobia. The extra point was good, and the Warriors were up 14-0.
Water Valley was able to put points on the board with 6:44 on the clock in the first quarter. Their PAT was good making the score 14-7 with Senatobia still in the lead.
Senatobia found a new gear and were able to add two more touchdowns in the first quarter. The first came at the 3:48 mark when the Warriors got the touchdown, but the PAT attempt failed to sail through the uprights. The next came with 43.4 seconds left in the first quarter when Abram’s once again ran back the ball. The PAT was good, and the Warriors led 27-7 at the quarter change.
During the second quarter things were slow until at the 6:43 mark, Sinquefield made an interception getting the ball back for the Warriors. Senatobia capitalized on the Blue Devil’s error and scored again with 5:29 left on the clock in the half. The PAT was good, and the Warriors were up 34-7.
Water Valley tried to make a drive and score before heading into the locker rooms at the half, but a bad snap and recovery by Senatobia prevented the Blue Devils from adding points. The buzzer sounded and the first half of play ended with Senatobia in the lead 34-7.
The second half of the matchup was fairly uneventful compared to the first. Water Valley was able to tack on another touchdown and point after, but Senatobia also added to their lead and the final was 44-14.
Senatobia wrapped up the regular season as the number 2 seed for playoffs. Next week Friday, Nov. 6 the Warriors will host Houston in the first round of Region 2-3A playoffs. Kick off at 7 p.m.
