Five Star City Fest’s Carnivore’s Corner BBQ Competition & Steak Cookoff brought 19 teams to try their skills at taking home the grand prize May 12 & 13.
With 12 different categories, one team walked away as the Grand Champion. MS Meat Mafia brought in the highest points and earned the $300 cash, a hand-crafted trophy and a new grill donated by Louisiana Grills.
In the Best Set up category, first place went to Cotton Country Q; Too Sauced to Pork was named in second place; and third place was earned by Dead Head Smokers.
As far as who cooked the best ribeye in the Steak cookoff, Hillbilly Porkers proved their skills by earning first place. Too Sauced to Pork came in second in the steak portion and earning the way into third place was Cotton Country Q.
When it came to slinging the Best Cocktails, Toby-Que won first place, Beerded Smokers took home second and Too Sauced to Pork won the bronze spot.
Best Dessert went to MS Meat Mafia with Toby-Que ranking in at second and Beerded Smokers taking third.
Rare Choice took home first place in the Exotic category. Cotton Country Q placed second and Beerded Smokers took home third for Exotic cuisine.
In the Best Chicken division, Toby-Q won gold, Romie’s Secret Sauce was named second and rounding out the winners circle was MS Meat Mafia.
Best Chicken Wings had it’s own category and Beerded Smokers took home first, Cotton Country Q placed second and Toby-Q ranked third.
Judges gave first place to MS Meat Mafia for the Best Bologna prize. Romie’s Secret Sauce was second and Beerded Smokers took home third in that category.
Romie’s Secret Sauce won first in Best Sides with Too Sauced to Pork placing second and Hillbilly Porkers earning third.
In the Best Beef division, Hillybilly Porkers took home the first place trophy followed by Too Sauced to Pork in second and Toby-Q in third.
MS Meat Mafia won first in the Pulled Pork category with Dead Head Smokers taking second and Too Sauced to Pork placing third.
When it came to Best Ribs, Cotton Country Q proved their skill by earning gold, followed by Dead Head Smokers in second and MS Meat Mafia in third.
Each winner received hand-crafted cutting board trophies and bragging rights for the year.
