Residents of Mississippi have a new tax deadline from the Internal Revenue Service and Mississippi Department of Revenue.
Due to Winter Storm Fern and the ensuing disaster declaration issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, residents of all 82 Mississippi counties have until Monday, June 8 to file state and federal taxes.
The new deadline includes filing individual and business tax returns and making tax payments. The extension does not automatically apply to any other tax types or payments due on prior liabilities.
The IRS automatically identifies taxpayers located in the covered disaster area and applies filing and payment relief. Affected taxpayers who reside or have a business located outside the covered disaster area should call the IRS Special Services toll-free number at 866-562-5227 to request tax relief.
