Shirley Walton will serve as this year's grand Marshal of the Coldwater Christmas Parade set for 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Coldwater.
Walton was born and raised in Strayhorn to Gus and Lizzie O’Neal and was the youngest girl of fourteen children. She married Veldon Walton, with whom she raised four children.
After serving twenty years in the Air Force, the Waltons moved back to Coldwater in 1976.
Upon their return to Tate County, Mrs. Walton became an avid member of the community - well known for cheering on the Coldwater Cougars. Her love of the Cougars even earned her an award for her undying support.
She also worked at Coldwater Headstart and was a substitute teacher at Coldwater High School.
After a life spent in Tate County, she is honored to be chosen as this year's Grand Marshal.
