Tuesday night was the annual Tate County Economic Development Foundation and Senatobia Main Street’s banquet dinner.
As they do every year, the people in charge of selecting the winners, did a phenomenal job. Every award seemed well deserved and went to people and businesses who really seemed to have earned it.
Well, I have to say I was fond of one in particular. The award for best New Business Venture went to Big River Chiropractic and Dr. Caleb Alford.
So now is confession time. I had never been to a chiropractic clinic before. Despite having a friend whom I’d grown up with in Alabama becoming a chiropractor, and despite numerous friends advising of the benefits from seeking chiropractic treatment, I’d always dismissed it. I put it in a separate category. If I’m completely honest, I sort of turned my nose up at the idea of chiropractic care being a “real” form of healthcare.
However, I no longer have that sentiment.
Dr. Alford and his team decided to reach out to the local fire department and police department. I can completely understand why they would offer their services to those guys and gals with those types of physically demanding jobs. It just so happened my dear husband, who is probably one of the most cynical people in existence, allowed himself to be observed by Dr. Alford. Well, it shouldn’t be a shocker that issues were discovered.
So a hop, skip and a jump later, my husband comes home raving about how his pain is less and his range of motion has increased. His excitement over the results was infectious. That’s when I found myself wondering. See, ever since I had my daughter, 14 years ago, I’d suffered from back pain in the area where the epidural was injected in my spine.
“Hummm….” I thought. “Maybe I should just give it a shot.”
So I called up the good doctor’s office and made myself an appointment.
Wow. My entire experience was positive and boy, oh, boy, do I have a different view of chiropractic care now.
It wasn’t only Dr. Alford who impressed me, but the office itself is clean, inviting, warm and welcoming. The ladies and staff who work the front desk and handle insurance are friendly, professional and courteous. They helped develop a payment plan for my treatments since my insurance wasn’t accepted which actually ended up costing me less than my co-pay would have been.
And Dr. Alford himself, took the extra time to answer questions, explain each movement of the treatment, and develop a customized plan just for me.
The treatment amazed me. Again, I’d suffered from a chronic back pain for 14 years. It had gotten to the point where it was just a part of me. After seeing Dr. Alford, I remembered what it was like to be able to bend down and not feel that horrible ache. I still have several treatments to go, but I’m already seeing results and success.
Senatobia Main Street hit the nail on the head for giving Big River Chiropractic the award for best New Business Venture. Senatobia can be proud to have Dr. Alford and his team set up shot in the Five Star City. Bravo Big River! Thank you for making Senatobia your new home!
