The Wildcats put up a good fight, but it was all Warriors Friday night at Bobby Franklin Field on the campus of Northwest Mississippi Community College.
Senatobia’s Warrior offense and defense got the job done scoring a lot of points and holding the Independence Wildcats scoreless, in a 42-0 contest that drew crowds on both sides of the field.
The good things started early for Senatobia as they won the toss and took the opening kickoff and marched down the field in seven plays for the first TD.
The Warriors’ first play from scrimmage was a 44-yard pass from QB Jay Irby to receiver Silas King for a 44 yard gain. Senatobia capped the drive on a six yard run by King. The PAT was good at the 10:03 mark for a 7-0 lead.
Independence threw an interception to Senatobia’s Dominick Daniels and the Warrior’s were once again in business at the Wilcat 34.
It took three plays for Senatobia to score, with King crashing the middle and a PAT to make it 14-0.
Irby later found freshman receiver Javari Bowen in the open for a 29-yard TD and Senatobia led 21-0 after one quarter.
The second quarter saw a bad snap on a punt by the Wildcats give Senatobia the ball at the 6-yard line. Two plays later Warrior running back Deavion Watson pushed it over to take the score to 28-0.
Senatobia’s QB found a wide open Joe Edmonds for the next Warrior score from 36-yards out.
The Warriors had a 35-0 lead at the half.
Independence made the adjustment and generated one of their longest drives to open the second half.
The Wildcat defense held Senatobia scoreless in the frame.
Senatobia’s final score was a 39-yard run by sophomore running back Bryson Wilks early in the fourth quarter.
All of Ethan Loyacano’s extra point kicks were good and the Warrior’s finished the game 42-0.
Senatdobia is now 3-0 and plays at Bobby Franklin again Friday night as they take on undefeated Calhoun City.
Independence hosts West Bolivar, who is 0-2 on the season.
