An adult and a juvenile out on bond after being charged for murder in Tate County in 2020 are back behind bars.
Captain Lisa Sanders said Lajarron J. Walton, 21, of Crenshaw, and Romell Williams, 15, of Quitman County, are both in the Tate County Jail after the district attorney had their bonds revoked in connection with recent felony crimes in other counties.
Walton and Williams were two of five suspects, including another adult and two juveniles, charged in the murder of Antonio Oliver, 46, of Sarah. The three juveniles were charged as adults in connection with the crime.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 8000 block of Tate-Panola Road on Monday, Dec. 28, at approximately 3 p.m., after receiving reports of a shooting.
Sheriff Brad Lance told the Tate Record a deceased adult male was discovered at the scene with gunshot wounds. An eyewitness was able to provide investigators from the Tate County Sheriff’s Office with detailed information of the incident including a description of the perpetrators and the vehicle they were driving, according to Lance.
He said a subsequent investigation, with assistance from authorities from Panola and Quitman Counties, led to the arrest of five individuals who were later charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. Lance said robbery could have been a motive.
All five were later released from jail under $100,000 bonds issued by Tate County Justice Court Judge Carolyn Shead at a preliminary hearing on Jan. 14, 2021.
