Tate is one of the wealthiest counties in Mississippi for the second consecutive year, according to a study by SmartAsset.
The financial technology company analyzed places in state with the highest per capita wealth and Tate County ranked 10th on the list.
The study measured the amount of investment income being generated in each county, in addition to the per capita income and median home value to find the wealthiest places. SmartAsset publishes articles, guides, reviews, calculators, and tools to help people make decisions about personal finance.
Tate County, which also ranked 1,488 nationally with an overall wealth index of 14.91, has a median income of $54,839 and investment income of $15,570. The median home value is $203,836.
Madison County tops Mississippi with a wealth index of 22.80, followed by Lafayette County at 20.24 and DeSoto County at 19.58.
To identify the wealthiest counties, SmartAsset compared all U.S. counties across three metrics: investment income, property value, and per capita income.
The analysis began by calculating the Investment Index for each county by evenly weighing the Ordinary Dividends, Qualified Dividends, and Net Capital Gains. From there, the company calculated the Median Home Value, and the Per Capita Income for each county, and ranked them on all three metrics. The top 10 list in Mississippi includes:
