A foot chase by police ending in a Senatobia shopping center resulted in the arrest of two male suspects.
According to a report from the Senatobia Police Department, officers initiated a traffic stop for careless driving Wednesday, March 12, at approximately 4 p.m., on Interstate 55.
Officers discovered after stopping the vehicle the driver and passenger had warrants for their arrests through other law enforcement agencies. While attempting to remove the driver from the vehicle to detain him, the passenger fled west on foot from I-55 towards businesses on Norfleet Drive.
The SPD report states as officers were chasing the suspect on foot, he tossed a firearm with an illegal “switch” attached that was found by police. The passenger was eventually apprehended near the former site of First Security Bank in the parking lot of Senatobia Plaza without further incident.
The driver was taken into custody for narcotics and various other traffic charges at the scene of the traffic stop.
