Last Friday was a banner day for the Senatobia track teams, with both the Warriors and Lady Warriors sweeping the field at the Pontotoc Invitational.
Senatobia racked up 218 points out of 10 girls’ teams, finishing well above runners-up Tupelo Christian Prep, which finished with 76.5 points. The Warriors also tallied 184 points in the boys’ field of competition, with Pontotoc placing second at 175 points.
Senior Madison Roberts placed first in the 800-meter run, posting a mark of 2:34.87, while eighth-grader Taylor Hale placed first in the 1600-meter run with a 5:54.14 result. Hale, Adilyn Sawyer and Sidney Kate Hunt all placed first through third in the 3200-meter run, with Hale earning a winning time of 13:14.37.
Kireunna Versell and Angelina Presley finished first and second in the 300-meter hurdles, with Versell logging a time of 50.57, followed by a 50.97 second place result from Presley.
Senior Markayla Conley won the high jump with a 4-8 mark and Nakaeyla Hammond also won the pole vault with a 9-6 mark. The Lady Warriors also won the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays.
Deavion Watson was one of the top finishers for the Senatobia boys, winning both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Watson, a sophomore, finished with a 15.57 mark in the 110-meter hurdles and a 42.74 mark in the 300-meter hurdles.
Junior Ty’earion Webb posted a winning result of 42-8.5 in the triple jump, and Senatobia also swept the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800-meter relays.
