Senatobia Rotary Clean Up Day is set for Saturday, May 2, giving local citizens and groups of volunteers an opportunity to play an active role in improving the overall beautification of the city.
Brant Kairit, who spearheads the annual event, expects this year’s will be the biggest ever.
“We are hoping to clean up Senatobia to improve the appearance of our community,” he explained. “It shows we have caring citizens who take pride in the place we call home.”
The event began several years ago with mainly Rotarians and a local Boy Scout troop shouldering the load. Approximately 400 volunteers filled 800 bags with trash and litter from streets and roads in Senatobia in 2024.
“Everyone from elementary school children to senior citizens have chipped in to help over the years,” Kairit said. “We welcome church and youth groups and any high school organizations to join us.”
Those interested in participating in Rotary Clean Up Day are asked to gather at the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church in Senatobia on Saturday, May 2, at 7 a.m. Groups will split up and go to different areas in the city around 7:45 a.m. The event usually ends around 10 a.m.
Senatobia Rotary Club will provide breakfast for participants. Garbage bags and an allotment of safety vests will be provided. Volunteers are urged to bring their own safety vests, if possible.
