A local man arrested has been arrested and charged for the second time with failure to register as a sex offender, according to the Tate County Sheriff’s Office.
Captain Lisa Sanders identified the suspect as Donnie Davis, 56, of Coldwater, who was taken into custody Tuesday, Nov. 1, and held at the Tate County Jail under a $10,000 bond.
Sanders said the Tate County Sheriff’s Office received notification from the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry stating Davis was in non-compliance.
Davis was sentenced in Tate County Circuit Court in September for non-compliance on the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry list. He was ordered to serve 30 days in Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) and four years, 335 days post-release supervision after pleading guilty to a charge of failure to register as a sex offender.
Davis was taken into custody by deputies from the Tate County Sheriff’s Office in July 2021 and charged with failure to register as a sex offender and illegal possession of beer/wine in a dry county. He was indicted in January by the Tate County Grand Jury.
Davis was convicted of rape in Tipton County, Tenn., in 2001.
