For the first time since the 2019 season, the Northwest softball program has scheduled a full home slate at its on-campus facility.
After the shortened 2020 season due to COVID-19 and ongoing upgrades that took place during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, the defending NJCAA Region 23 champions are set to host all of their home games at one site this season.
Coach Chelsea Bramlett will open her fourth season at Northwest on February 8, when the Rangers host Jackson State (Tenn.) at 4/6 P.M. From there, the team will travel extensively throughout the rest of February and into early March, taking part in numerous invitational tournaments.
Northwest will return home to open conference play against Southwest Mississippi on Saturday, March 11 and again on Saturday, March 18 against Copiah-Lincoln. The Rangers split with nationally-ranked Co-Lin late last season, a program that has been rapidly on the rise and hosted the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament last May.
Following a pair of doubleheaders at Mississippi Delta and East Central, the Rangers are scheduled to return home on Wednesday, March 29 against Holmes, before embarking on a trio of road twinbills at Hinds, Coahoma and Jones College. Northwest will then host Northeast (April 12), Meridian (April 18) and Mississippi Gulf Coast (April 22) to close out the regular season home schedule.
In the past four seasons (including an 8-6 record in 2020), Bramlett has guided Northwest to a combined 67-39 overall record and a 36-22 mark against conference opponents. The Rangers will also be looking to surpass last season's historic year, which saw numerous records fall in the team's journey to the program's first-ever appearance in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
