NATIONAL SUMMARY
Periods of rain will occur in central Pennsylvania and New
York and into upstate New York and parts of New England
tomorrow. Showers and thunderstorms can stretch from New
York City down to North Carolina. Steadier rain can be
expected along the Carolina coastline. Temperatures across
much of the Midwest and Plains will feel much more fall-like
since the cold front has passed. Lake-effect showers can dot
the shores along the Great Lakes; there can also be
waterspouts near the shores. In the Northeast, there can be
rough surf and rip currents due to an offshore tropical
rainstorm. A heat wave that has already broken some daily
record highs will persist in the West. In the Northwest,
smoke from wildfires can lead to poor air quality in places
such as Portland and Seattle.
