A suspect is in custody in connection with the shooting death of a Senatobia woman in Marshall County.
Kelly McMillen from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased female as Takila Gross, 30, of Lewers Chapel Road.
McMillen said deputies responded to a disturbance that escalated quickly at Roosevelt’s Club in Marshall County on Sunday, April 24, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Deputies received additional calls regarding shots fired on their way to the scene, according to McMillen.
While in route, deputies discovered a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 309 South and Highway 4 in the Chulahoma community. McMillen said one of the occupants was Gross.
“There was a female in it that the driver thought was having a seizure. Further investigation revealed she had a single gunshot wound to the head,” McMillen explained.
Investigators believe as many as three shots were fired during an altercation between two people at the club and Gross, a pregnant mother of two children, was an innocent bystander sitting in a vehicle.
A suspect, identified by McMillen as Andre Norman, 38, of Marshall County, was taken into custody in connection with the incident. McMillen said Norman initially fled the scene, but he was captured Sunday morning at approximately 10:30 a.m., and a firearm was also recovered.
Norman was charged with first-degree murder and held at the Marshall County Jail under a $1 million bond.
McMillen said the case remains under investigation and additional charges are pending.
