Senatobia and Coldwater enjoyed a boost in revenue for the third consecutive month in November.
Statistics from the Mississippi Department of Revenue (MDOR) show both municipalities remain consistent in sales collections five months into the 2025-26 fiscal year.
Senatobia’s revenue was up 0.2% in November from $263,759 in 2024 to $264,027 in 2025. The city has gathered $1,313,618 in sales tax this fiscal year – 3.8% above the $1,264,440 it collected the first five months of the previous fiscal year.
Coldwater sales tax collections were up 8.2% in November as it amassed $40,430 compared to $37,150 a year ago. The town has collected $216,946 – a 15.8% increase from the $182,819 taken in during the first five months of the prior fiscal year.
MDOR operates on a fiscal year beginning July 1st and ending June 30th. Statewide sales tax collections are based on a three-month cycle. Checks disbursed in November by MDOR were from revenue obtained in September and taxes paid to the state in October.
Sales tax is collected on local purchases and submitted monthly to MDOR before it is paid to cities. Sales tax receipts paid to cities are a direct result of money spent by consumers in those municipalities.
