Storms producing tornadoes moved through Tate County during the early morning hours Thursday, April 3, and left many concerned residents questioning why warning sirens were not activated in Senatobia.
The City of Senatobia issued a statement later in the day claiming the sirens did not function correctly due to “possible weather-related interference” after an attempt to turn them on. The city is currently making repairs to correct the issue.
Years ago, the tornado sirens in Senatobia were tested every Saturday at noon to ensure they were in proper working order.
“The City of Senatobia understands the critical importance of early warning systems in ensuring public safety.
