Coach Ivey Dixon left this world peacefully on January 19, 2026 surrounded by his loving family at home.
Coach Dixon was born on February 8, 1952 in Louisiana, the son of Reverend WT Dixon, Jr. and Eloise Smith Dixon.
Growing up he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for his family. He shared a close bond with his cousins Webb Lampley and Libby Lee Lampley, and nephews Will Dixon, John Dixon, and David Dixon. After graduating from college with a degree in education he dedicated 28 years to teaching and coaching.
Coach Ivey Dixon dedicated many of his teaching years to North Panola High School where he coached football and basketball. He was known for his discipline and encouragement to athletes.
A loving husband to Veronica, Ivey was a pillar of strength and support for his family. Together they raised four children: Stephanie, Tiffany, Lindsey, Bradley. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love, and a hearty laugh. He cherished family gatherings, and his presence at holidays and celebrations brought warmth and joy to those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Veronica Dixon, his children Tiffany (Aaron) Coleman, Lindsey (Chris) Clark, Bradley (Courtney) Dixon, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Doris Dixon.
He was preceded in death by his daughter (Stephanie Mayo), brother (William Tucker Dixon, III), sister (Bettie D. Knight), mother (Eloise Smith), and father (Rev. WT Dixon, Jr.).
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Sardis. A funeral service to celebrate Coach Ivey Dixon's life will be held on January 22, at 10 a.m. at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Sardiswith the internment to follow at Friendship Cemetery in Como. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Como Church of Christ.
