MEMPHIS, TN - Even in the midst of the major COVID 19 global pandemic, the Reverend Dr. Ronnie C. King, Pastor of North Memphis’ Grace Missionary Baptist Church, found a way to continue ministering to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of his congregants and residents in the New Chicago community. On Saturday, April 24, and Sunday the 25, 2021, the growing Grace membership, and many of the New Chicago occupants, will celebrate a four-year milestone of its shepherd’s leadership and service with an anniversary appreciation.
The famed Broadway Tony and Grammy award winner, Jennifer Holliday, will be the special featured guest of “An Evening of Music” at 5 p.m. on Saturday, along with three of Memphis’ top Saxophonists Jerry Smith, Mark Baker and Aisha Dubose. The Playhouse on the Square Theatre is a community outreach supporting partner for the evening. Culminating the appreciation on the 25th will be the Sunday Morning 10:30 a.m. service. The Revered Dr. Inetta Rogers, an Associate Minister of Grace, will deliver the anniversary celebration message.
“It was a real delight to have been asked to be the speaker for the anniversary” Dr. Rogers said. “I have watched this man of God do a plethora of things for Grace, the New Chicago community and the city of Memphis. He works tirelessly for all the people of God.”
The anniversary theme, “Looking Back, Pressing Forward - Four Years A Pastor And Teacher,” is a “wonderful thematic subject to describe Pastor King’s visionary leadership at Grace,” said Grace Deacon Chair and businessman Charles Thigpen. “He has championed, among many, numerous ministry causes for addressing issues like affordable housing and health care, feeding the needy and providing youth scholarships. Pastor King has done some miraculous work at Grace and the community in such a short period of time.”
All are invited to attend the anniversary celebration programs which are free and open to the public. Limited in-person social distance seating and wearing of mask will be required. Temperature will be checked at the door upon admittance for all in-person seating. Attendees can also remain in their vehicles and enjoy the concert and Morning worship service.
