Our world is a messed up fallen world that seems to get even crazier every day. I would love to tell you that I never struggle with trusting God, but sometimes I have to work harder at it than other times.
In those more difficult times, I always turn to His Word for answers, guidance and encouragement.
Often times I will turn to passages like 2 Chronicles 20, where King Jehoshaphat and his armies were facing three forces allied against them. The king cried out to God, confessing his powerlessness and his cluelessness in the situation. But, he concluded his prayer with, “Nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on you” 2 Chron 20:12.
Those words are incredibly helpful to me, reminding me to just keep my eyes on God no matter what my circumstance may be.
Trusting God’s sovereignty means having confidence that He is in absolute control, ruling over every detail of my life with divine purpose and goodness, even amidst any suffering or hardship.
“My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge” Psalm 62:7-8.
Grounding this trust in His word, His promises allows all believers to find peace, knowing He works all things together for their good according to Romans 8:28.
God is supreme, holding authority over all creation, and no plan can thwart His will. He uses challenging circumstances to develop endurance, character, and hope in His children, rather than just preventing pain.
God doesn’t always tell us why He allows certain things to happen in our lives and the lives of our loved ones. But He always tells us who He is and who we are to Him in His Word. He is loving. He is good. He is gracious. He is trustworthy, and His words are true. He’s our refuge. He’s our mighty rock. He’s our salvation. We’re his dearly loved children.
Proverbs 19:21 tells us that , "Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails."
Today sweet friend God is still and always will be, trustworthy. Rest in His purpose and plan for your life and yield to whatever that "thing" is that you need to trust Him in.
Hold Fast,
-Bren
