Identity of body found in drainage ditch confirmed as Arkansas woman

Authorities have determined that the body discovered Saturday morning in a watery drainage ditch near a Greenwood highway belonged to an Arkansas woman who they believe had been staying at a nearby hotel.
They still don’t know, though, what caused her death.

A man arrested for failing to register as a sex offender has been sentenced in Tate County Circuit Court.

Documents show John Howard Starkey Jr., 42, of Nesbit, was ordered to serve 133 days in Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) and four years, 232 days post-release supervision in intervention court.

Moore gets 20 years in local murder case

A man arrested for his role in a 2021 murder in a Senatobia neighborhood will spend the next several years behind bars.

Court documents show Marshall Moore Jr., 33, of Como, was ordered to serve 20 years in Mississippi Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
