A man was taken into custody by Senatobia police in connection with disturbing residents of a local neighborhood at late hours of the night.
Chief Richard Chandler identified the male subject as Marcus X. Burgess, 34, of Senatobia. Burgess was charged with disorderly conduct and released from the Tate County Jail under a $500 bond.
Chandler said police officers received numerous harassment complaints in January from residents on Morgan Lane and Brownsferry Road regarding a black male matching Burgess’ description knocking on doors and soliciting money late at night and in the early morning. Officers spotted Burgess in the neighborhood multiple times and warned him to stop.
Senatobia police received another complaint Friday, Jan. 28, at 2:41 a.m., from a resident on Morgan Lane stating a man was knocking on the door and asking for money. Burgess was arrested and charged on scene in connection with the incident. He is scheduled to appear in Senatobia Municipal Court in March.
Chandler urged all citizens to secure their homes and vehicles by making sure doors and windows are always locked to prevent any type of criminal behavior.
“If someone knocks on the door of your home and you are not comfortable opening it, call the Senatobia Police Department and we will send an officer to your residence to ensure your safety,” Chandler said.
