A traffic accident on Highway 4 East claimed the lives of two DeSoto County teenagers.
Sgt. Marvin Baird, Public Affairs Officer for Troop E of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, said the crash occurred Friday, Sept. 10, at approximately 10:19 p.m., near Peppertree Lane.
Baird said a 2018 Chevrolet Impala driven by a 17-year-old female from Lake Cormorant was traveling east on Highway 4 when it collided with the rear end of a 2017 Ford Expedition driven by Amy Peeples, of Coldwater, also traveling east on Highway 4.
The teenage driver of the Impala and another 17-year-old female from Lake Cormorant, who was a passenger in the vehicle, received fatal injuries in the crash, according to Baird. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Tate County Coroner Pat Kizziah.
MHP did not release the names of the two deceased females because they are minors. Baird said Peeples was not injured in the accident.
