A man arrested earlier this year following a domestic incident in eastern Tate County has been sentenced in Tate County Circuit Court.
Documents show George Tun, 37, of Coldwater, was ordered to serve 230 days in Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) and 19 years, 135 days post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of aggravated domestic violence.
A report from the Tate County Sheriff’s Office states Tun was charged with domestic violence and aggravated assault Tuesday, Feb. 9 and detained under a $100,000 bond. He was indicted by a grand jury in June.
According to the report, TCSO deputies responded to a disturbance complaint Friday, Feb. 7, near the 4000 block of Highway 305 after a witness stated Tun had been struck by a Tate County school bus in front of a residence. After arriving on scene, deputies discovered the complainant had been assaulted by Tun. Tun was transported by Pafford EMS to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis and treated for his injuries.
Tun was released from the hospital Saturday, Feb. 8, and taken into custody by the Fugitive Bureau of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and held for extradition, the report shows. Tate County deputies transported Tun from 201 Poplar Avenue to the Tate County Jail where he was officially charged.
