Circuit Court Judgments
Tate County Circuit Court records show the following sentences were among those handed down during the December 2024 Vacation terms of court.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Jimmy McClure’s court:
• Roderick Cortez Carter, of Senatobia, was sentenced to five years in Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) and five years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of conspiracy. He had two charges of possession of cannabis – 250 to 500 grams as a recidivist and habitual offender and a charge of possession of methamphetamine – 40 units or more remanded to the file. Carter must pay $1,685.03 in court costs.
• Linda Gross aka Linda Gross Pratcher, of Sardis, was sentenced to eight years in MDOC and 22 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of aggravated assault on an officer as a habitual offender. She had a separate charge of aggravated assault on an officer as a habitual offender remanded to the file. Gross must pay $935.14 in court costs.
• James Skylar Jones, of Robinsonville, had his probation revoked to serve four years and 361 days on a charge of grand larceny. He must pay $1,739.90 in court costs.
• Durrell Partee, of Memphis, was sentenced to five years in MDOC and 11 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of cannabis – 250 to 500 grams as a recidivist and habitual offender. He had another charge of possession of cannabis – 250 to 500 grams as a recidivist and habitual offender, a charge of possession of methamphetamine – 40 units or more and a conspiracy charge remanded to the file. Partee must pay $2,182.63 in court costs.
• Helena Michelle Williams, of Memphis, was sentenced to consecutively serve two years in MDOC and six years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of cannabis – 250 to 500 grams and eight years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of cannabis – 250 to 500 grams. She had a charge of conspiracy and a charge of possession of methamphetamine – 40 dosage units remanded to the file. Williams must pay $2,626.23 in court costs.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Smith Murphey’s court:
• Marvin Terrell Brown, of Coldwater, was sentenced to 10 years suspended and one year of house arrest after a guilty plea on a charge of DUI-fourth offense. He had a charge of failure to stop pursuant to officer’s signal remanded to the file. Brown must pay $1,692.90 in court costs.
• Tyler Nathaniel Hart, of Coldwater, was sentenced to five years in MDOC and 15 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of fondling. He must pay $2,558.50 in court costs.
Some of the final decisions reported here may be the result of plea negotiations. By law, circuit court judges are not involved in plea negotiations. Most sentences are the result of a negotiated agreement between the district attorney and defendant.
