A Senatobia man has been arrested and charged in connection with abusing a juvenile, according to local authorities.
The suspect, identified by Detective Brannon Rushing with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Senatobia Police Department as Gabriel Arellanos, 37, was arrested Friday, Oct. 9, and charged with felony child abuse.
Rushing said he opened an investigation earlier this month after being notified by officials from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis of a child in their care with substantial physical injuries. After conducting several interviews and gathering independent evidence, Rushing said enough probable cause was collected to charge Arellanos in connection with the incident.
Arenallos, who is under a detainer by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), was transported to the DeSoto County Adult Detention Facility and held on a $350,000 bond.
Rushing said the case remains under review by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Senatobia Police Department.
