After a life well spent, Ann Mitchell, passed away at the age of 80 in the loving home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kerry and Johnny Facello of Hughes, Arkansas. Ann left this world as a result of complications related to dementia.
Ann was a dynamic and successful business owner. She made her presence known owning and operating one of the most successful refinishing and upholstery businesses in Memphis, Love’s Refinishing. Ann employed many people, offering them the opportunity to succeed and sustain themselves. She often hired people through Catholic charities, offering them a chance to demonstrate their talent and skill.
Ann had a tremendous heart and passion for animal rescue. She literally changed the face of rescue as it related to abandoned animals on the streets of Memphis.
After her husband, J.W. Mitchell, passed away in 2021, dementia had taken its toll on Ann. She left the home she loved in Coldwater, Miss., to be with Kerry and Johnny.
For the last four years, Ann was cherished and cared for by a band of friends referred to as the “Slough Crew”. This tight knit community of people was led by Ann’s primary caregiver, Pamela Chamness. Pam was the reason Ann was in her loving home until her final day.
Ann is survived by her son, Jake Mitchell (Tara); daughter, Kerry Facello (Johnny); stepdaughter, Phyllis Ruanna (Dave), and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the West Memphis Animal Shelter or any animal rescue of your choice.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at Magnolia Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
