Good news Senatobia!
The time-lengthy and much maligned roundabout project to connect offset intersections of U.S. Highway 51 with West Main Street now has a tentative completion date.
According to a statement from Mississippi Department of Transportation Executive Director Brad White, he has been assured by the contractor paving will begin by the end of March. If there are no interruptions or delays, there is a strong belief the roundabout will be open to traffic middle to late April.
White said there will still be minor traffic interruptions and closures to complete construction, but they will only be temporary.
“We appreciate your patience as we make this intersection safer and more efficient,” White said. “I especially thank Mayor Greg Graves and the city leadership for their cooperation during this time. Dr. Graves has kept all of us accountable and on task in a project that I understand has not been ideal for the motoring public. However, I am confident the end product will be something of which the residents of Senatobia will be proud.”
