Are you ready for it? Because the time is here. Leaves are changing color, they are beginning to fall, the weather is turning cool and the days feel a little shorter.
A new season begins. Fall is here!
It was only a few weeks ago that it was so hot that everyone was in shorts and taking that last dip in the pool. Then suddenly the season changed. It seemed like it was almost overnight. And even though it happens this way every year, we always seem to be surprised how quickly it happens.
We shouldn’t be shocked though, because the Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 that “to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
What kind of season are you in today? Some of us are in a season of joy. All seems right with the world, things are going great and it could not get any better for you.
For others, it is a season of trial. You are experiencing struggles, hardship, heartache, and pain. Life just could not be any worse!
For those in a season of joy, we hate to see this season change. For those in a season of trial, we can’t wait another minute for this season to change.
King Solomon (the wisest man in the Bible) knew about these “seasons.” He said that there was “a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.” He had been through these seasons and understood the purpose that the Lord had for those times in our lives.
In Ecclesiastes 3:10 King Solomon came to this understanding… "I have observed the burdens placed by God on human beings in order to perfect them.” (ISV) That is the purpose of every season under heaven…To “perfect us.”
That season of joy isn’t for your enjoyment only! Share it with others. Be a blessing and encouragement to those around you. Perfect yourself in that joy so that others may call upon the Lord and learn of that same joy.
The same is true for the season of trials that we all experience. It is not always a punishment. It’s also for perfecting ourselves through those trials. Who better to encourage and support others who are enduring trials than one who has already been there.
Perfect your relationship with the Lord and learn to trust him more, rely upon him, and thank him through these times. And then teach others what you have learned.
Don’t lose heart. The Lord understands. That’s why he made the seasons of change. He knows how much we can bear, WITH HIS HELP, and just like the turning and the falling of the leaves, our season will suddenly change. So hold on, trust the Lord, grow through these times, and then praise him in your new season!
