Hunter Mabry earns Scholar Athlete award
Even if Senatobia fell just short of its state title dreams, a few Warriors did return with individual awards as named by the Mississippi Association of Coaches.
Tailback Jordan Osborn, receiver JaBrysten Abram, offensive lineman Chavarius Garrett and linebacker Carlous Robinson were each selected to the MAC’s Class 4A All-State team ahead of the state title game. Osborn and Abram were named first team selections, while Garrett and Robinson collected second team honors.
Osborn rushed for over 2,000 yards on the season and 26 touchdowns, while Abram was a force to be reckoned with on offense, earning 49 receptions, 981 yards and nine touchdowns. Garrett played a vital role as the anchor of the Warriors’ offensive line, while Robinson locked down the interior linebacker role in his only season with the Senatobia defense.
In addition to the all-state honors, Senatobia senior Hunter Mabry was also recognized before the game as an MHSAA Class 4A Scholar Athlete. Along with its academic merit, the award is given to one player from each team competing in the football state championships.
Senatobia concluded the season with a 12-3 overall record and made its first appearance in the Class 4A title game since 2004.
