Senatobia surrendered four runs apiece in the top of the first and second innings, as the Lady Warriors dropped a 13-3 loss in six innings against Hernando on Tuesday evening.
Hernando’s early 8-0 lead only grew in the top of the third, when the Lady Tigers added an additional run and three more in the top of the fourth. SHS was held scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, when a two-out error by the HHS shortstop allowed Maci Claire Moore to score from third.
Although Bailey Thomas’ two-run single in the fifth inched the Lady Warriors a little closer, Hernando added its final run on a fielder’s choice in the top of the sixth. Senatobia was then retired in order, ending the game in favor of the Lady Tigers.
Moore went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Warriors, and Senatobia finished the game with five base hits. Hernando tacked on nine hits, highlighted by a 3-for-3 effort from Macie Dever Boaz, who also accounted for a double, a home run and two RBIs.
Kelsey Hoffman got the start in the circle for the Lady Warriors, tossing three complete frames and surrendering six hits, six earned runs (four unearned) and four walks. Savanna Hudspeth and Bayleigh Sims combined for three innings of relief, with Hudspeth recording the only strikeout for the Senatobia pitching staff.
Haylee Jackson started in the circle for Hernando, striking out five batters against a walk, one base hit and no runs allowed in three complete innings.
With the loss, Senatobia fell to 0-3 on the season. The Lady Warriors will look to bounce back next week, hosting Strayhorn on Tuesday, March 4 at 6:30 P.M. and South Pontotoc on Thursday, March 6 at 7 P.M.
