Elizabeth Wallace Pate, 93, passed away October 11, 2025 at Holly Springs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Franklin Pate, parents, Lester Lyle Wallace and Virginia Clare Wallace; sister, Edith Ann Scruggs; and brother, Lester Lyle Wallace, Jr. She is survived by her son, Michael Leonard; brother, David H. Wallace (Linda Fay); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth grew up and lived most of her life in Cockrum, Miss. She was a member of Cockrum Methodist Church and Eastern Star.
She served proudly in the U. S. Marine Corps, worked in manufacturing and was a Caregiver for family and friends. These were all things she did, but her true legacy was her capacity to love as a devoted mother and to give of herself unconditionally to others.
During her time with her husband in Huntingdon, Tenn., she once again became very active in the community and Davis Chapel Methodist Church. During a visit there one of her fellow parishioners defined her perfectly: "Mrs. Pate taught us all what love really is."
Beloved let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Services were held Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home. Burial followed in Cockrum Cemetery with military honors.
