The election of responsible agricultural producers to FSA county committees is important to ALL farmers and ranchers with large or small operations. It is crucial that every eligible producer take part in this election because county committees are a direct link between the farm community and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Committee members are a critical component of the day-to-day operations of FSA. They help deliver FSA farm programs at the local level. Farmers who serve on committees help decide the kind of programs their counties will offer. They work to make FSA agricultural programs serve the needs of local producers.
For 2022, Local Administrative Area (LAA) 2 which is the Independence, Wakefield, Coldwater, Bett, and Poagville areas are holding the election of a COC member for a three year term. Also, Local Administrative Area (LAA) 5 which is the Lake Cormorant, Walls, Days, Horn Lake, Savage, Sarah, Strayhorn, and Arkabutla communities will be holding an election for a COC member for a three-year term.
FSA encourages all eligible producers to nominate themselves, or another eligible producer, to run for office. Nomination forms (FSA-669 A’s) are available at all county FSA offices and online at: http://www.fsa.usda.gov/elections. Also available is a list of eligible voters and a map of the county with each LAA draw off.
