The SonSeekers will be revving engines and hitting the roads Saturday, May 21, as part of the 2022 Blue Thunder Ride in honor of law enforcement officials for National Police Week.
Sponsored by Southern Thunder Harley Davidson in Southaven, the event begins at 9 a.m. with a free pancake breakfast served at the store. Anyone wanting to participate in the ride will be able to sign up at that time.
Kick stands up at 10:30 a.m. and the riders will hit Interstate 55 south headed to Coldwater Police Department.
Coldwater Police Chief Ricky Dandridge will be on hand to greet the riders.
“We are so appreciative of them thinking of us,” said Dandridge. “They could have easily picked a different town, but we really appreciate them thinking of us. We look forward to seeing everyone Saturday.”
The public is encouraged to meet the riders at the PD at 11 a.m. to show support for local police.
From Coldwater, the riders will head to Batesville to meet with police and dispatchers at the department. The final stop will be Oxford Police Department. The ride will then head north on Highway 7 and back Highway 310 around Sardis Lake before heading north on I55.
SonSeekers began the annual Blue Thunder Ride to show support for officers following ambush style shooting and killing of five Houston police officers. The event was cancelled the past two years due to the COVID pandemic.
