The Mississippi Federation of Democratic Women (MFDW) issued the following statement announcing its endorsement of Dr. Johnny L. DuPree, Democratic candidate for US House of Representatives for Mississippi’s 4thCongressional District.
“We are proud to support Dr. DuPree in his campaign to represent the people of the 4th Congressional District. Dr. DuPree shares the commitment to the ideals that bring our Mississippi Federation of Democratic Women together: equality, justice, and compassion,” said Lovie West, President, MFDW.
“For over 25 years Dr. DuPree has demonstrated his dedication to his community through his service in local government. From his early years as a member of the Hattiesburg Schoolboard, to his 10 years on the Forrest County Board of Supervisors, to his 16 years as the Mayor of Hattiesburg, he has represented the interests of all people,” she added.
“Dr. DuPree’s platform resonates with us and fits with the values that matter to us. We are impressed with his years of experience and his dedication to fair remedies for economic insecurity, voting rights, gender rights, civil and social justice rights, reproductive rights, affordable healthcare, common sense gun control, sustainable energy, and energy independence.
“Residents of the 4th District need a compassionate and people-first Congressman. We are certain that Dr. DuPree, who puts the needs of the majority first, will be that Congressman,” said West.
“We are ready to help mobilize this district and do the work to send Johnny L. DuPree to the US House of Representatives in November,” concluded West.
