An investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Senatobia Police Department led to the arrest of a man in connection with molestation/fondling of a child.
Lieutenant Brannon Rushing from SPD identified the suspect as Jailin Wooten, 20, of Senatobia. Wooten was charged Friday, Dec. 8, and detained at the Tate County Jail under a $125,000 bond.
Rushing said the Criminal Investigations Division opened an inquiry and began conducting interviews and gathering physical evidence Tuesday, Dec. 5, after receiving a complaint regarding the possible sexual assault of a child. He said the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services, Healing Hearts Child Advocacy Center and LeBonheur Children’s Hospital assisted in the investigation.
On Thursday, Dec. 7, a warrant was issued for Wooten’s arrest in connection with the crime and he was placed into custody the next day.
Rushing said information gathered during the investigation led authorities to believe other individuals may have information regarding previous incidents involving Wooten. If so, you are urged to call the Senatobia Police Department at 662-562-5643.
“The Senatobia Police Department Criminal Investigations Division prioritizes these terrible crimes above all other crimes that are committed, and we stand by our mission to create a safer Senatobia for the most vulnerable citizens…our children,” Rushing said.
