Leading 14-7 against South Pontotoc last Thursday evening, Senatobia scorched the Cougars’ defense for five unanswered touchdowns, earning a dominating 49-7 victory in region competition.
Julien Tabor’s 11-yard rush got the scoring started for the Warriors, and Jay Irby’s 14-yard rush made it a 14-0 lead for Senatobia.
After a huge pass allowed South Pontotoc to break up the shutout, Senatobia got back to work quickly. Tabor would add three more touchdowns before halftime, setting the Warriors up for a 35-7 advantage.
However, the scoring wasn’t quite finished in the first half. South Pontotoc fumbled inside its own five-yard line, giving Senatobia short field position and a quick score from Tabor once again, as the Warriors led 42-7 at the break.
A pick six provided last touchdown for Senatobia, and the only score in the second half, as the Warriors wrapped up the region victory.
With the win, SHS moved to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in region competition, as South Pontotoc dropped to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in region play.
