Well, it’s that time of year again. Those old yellow school buses will take to the streets again next week.
It’s time to be on the look out for children crossing the road and for vehicles coming to sudden stops.
It’s also time for a reminder that those red stop signs extending from the buses are not suggestions. It’s the law.
I’ve witnessed too many times impatient drivers speeding through or past a stopped school bus with the sign extended. Someone will get hurt. A child could get hurt.
So slow down and plan ahead.
It’s hard getting out of bed those 30 minutes early. I’ll be the first one to complain, but it’s worth it if it means saving a life or at least not putting innocent lives in danger.
In Senatobia we have the three-way stops. We know there is going to be extra traffic once those school bells ring; so it’s really a no brainer.
Plan ahead, stay alert and do accordingly.
