McMinn named MAIS Class AAAAA Coach of the Year

Trio of Chiefs earn All-AAAAA honors

After guiding Magnolia Heights to its 13th state title, Magnolia Heights baseball coach Chris McMinn has been selected as the MAIS Coach of the Year for Class AAAAA.

McMinn has led the Chiefs to 11 of the program’s 13 state championships, dating back to 2009. He compiled a 26-4 record in 2022 and led his team to a clean slate throughout the MAIS Playoffs, sweeping Winston Academy, East Rankin Academy, Starkville Academy and Copiah Academy.

Additionally, three Chiefs were selected for all-state honors, led by Class AAAAA Player of the Year Cooper Pratt. Joining Pratt for all-state honors was Ethan Melton and Drew Prosek.
