A local hospice company is standing out against steep competition after being recognized and honored by Modern Heatlhcare, a leading source of healthcare business and policy news, research and information.
Every year the website conducts a study to find the best healthcare facilities at which to work. Among the top 150 organizations on this year’s list is Spring Valley Hospice. Spring Valley Hospice is an entity of Hospice Home Care, a 30-year leader company caring for patients in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Spring Valley Hospice has an operating office in Olive Branch but cares for patients throughout DeSoto, Marshall, Panola, Tunica and locally, Tate County.
The 2022 Best Places to Work in Healthcare competition looks at healthcare facilities across the nation and ranks the top 150. The alphabetically list was released in May of this year and will culminate with a gala in Nashville, Tenn. On September 29, where the list will be revealed with the specific rankings. Modern Healthcare will reveal the all the contenders and their rankings in the Oct. 3 edition. Cathy Carollo, CEO of Hospice Home Care explained the honor of being recognized.
“We are thrilled that our team has received this recognition,” said Carollo. “Earning this distinction amid an evolving healthcare crisis, our associates continue to stay mission focused, ‘adding life to each and every day’. I am enormously proud and grateful to work alongside individuals who take every opportunity to care for one another, our patients, their families, and the communities we serve.”
Currently, Spring Valley Hospice serves about 1,200 patients and their families throughout northern Mississippi with some patients located at home in Senatobia and Tate County.
Amber Eckman, RN and Vice President of Clinical Services for Spring Valley Hospice said it’s the structure of the company that sets them apart from other hospice providers.
Eckman said a big part of the success at Spring Valley Hospice is their efforts at employee retention and they focus on the quality of the care provided rather than the quantity of patients served.
“It’s truly inspiring to working alongside a team that is really passionate about the care that they get to deliver each and every day to our patients and families here at Spring Valley Hospice,” said Eckman. “Working in hospice is not what most people think it is and it will change your life. Sure, there can be challenging days, but every day is a rewarding one. For me it has changed my ‘I have to’ moments to what is now ‘I get to’ moments.”
