Glenn Goldring, OD, an assistant professor at the Southern College of Optometry (SCO), has been named a finalist for the 2022 James Brownlee Optometrist of the Year by the Mississippi Optometric Association (MOA). The association presents the award annually to recognize significant contributions to the profession of optometry and to the public.
“Dr. Goldring is perhaps the most generous and genuine person that I know. He has a passion for the optometric profession and quietly leads by example. He does not like to draw attention to himself, preferring to effectively work behind the scenes,” said Dr. Lewis Reich, president of the Southern College of Optometry.
Dr. Goldring was in private practice in Senatobia from 1978 until 2018 when he sold his practice and joined the staff at SCO. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in 1978. His professional accomplishments include setting up the necessary and required continuing education which allowed Mississippi optometrists to use their newly attained therapeutic licenses. He is a lifetime member of the American Optometric Association and the MOA.
His volunteer services include vision care at the Baptist Children’s Village and the Baddour Center in Senatobia. He has also provided vision care at the Memphis Church Health Center and other services at the Memphis Food Bank.
Dr. Goldring and his wife Jamie are the parents of a daughter who is married with two children. They currently make their home in Memphis.
