A man arrested earlier this year in connection with a shooting in a Senatobia neighborhood will spend the next several years in prison.
Records from Tate County Circuit Court show Kenwoski Kinyamm Garrett, 18, of Senatobia, was ordered to serve five years in Mississippi Department of Corrections and 15 years post-release supervision after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He had two other charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon remanded to the file.
Senatobia Police Department received reports of a shooting near the 400 block of Short Street on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at approximately 9 p.m. Officers talked with several witnesses and an investigation revealed a Black male, later identified as Garrett, fired six shots from a handgun in the direction of a white sedan driving north on Scottsdale Street. A report from SPD said no one was injured in the shooting.
Garrett was taken into custody by Senatobia police Sunday, Feb. 27, and charged with aggravated assault. He was detained at the Tate County Jail under a $250,000 bond and indicted by the Tate County Grand Jury in July 2022.
