Ella Burford Darnell, 99, of Independence, Miss., passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026.
She loved bowling, wordsearch puzzles, scrabble and playing solitaire. Ella also enjoyed working in her garden.
She was a member of Independence Church of Christ.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Darnell; parents, Bernard and Lorraine Burford; sisters, Anna McCorkle, Elese Tidwell, and Ramona Smart, and brothers, James Burford, Leon Burford, and Joe Burford.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia McClure (Roland); sons, Ralph Darnell (Nancy), Larry Darnell (Katherine), and Gary Darnell; grandchildren, Courtney Bartliff (Josh), Jennifer Totty (Mike), Laura Power (Walt), and Kelli McGuffee (Nick); and great grandchildren, Hunter Floyd, Kaylee Massey (Gaines), Baylor Bartliff, Brayden Totty, Luke Power, Olivia Power, Mary Ella McGuffee, and Myles McGuffee.
Services will be held Friday, February 6, 2026 in the chapel of Pate-Jones Funeral Home.
Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pate-Jones Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
