Sweet summertime! I love the warm weather and beautiful sunshine. I love everything about this time of year.
Swinging on the front porch, fishing at the lake and especially vacations.
I can think back on so many things that I enjoyed about the summer when I was growing up.
Some things were almost a tradition, like breaking open the watermelon straight from the garden and eating it at the picnic table in the backyard. Or, chasing the ice cream truck down the street so that we could buy a Firecracker Popsicle.
If I ever thought that my childhood was boring, I must have been crazy.
Looking back on it now, it was such a fun and happy time in my life.
I remember the summer that my Dad decided to take us on a surprise trip to visit a natural wonder called Mammoth Cave.
It was in the middle of June, but inside the cave was a cold 54 degrees. We walked for well over an hour, looking at every formation. It was as if below the surface of the earth, we had entered into another world.
I didn't realize how right I was until I saw an article a few days ago that announced the discovery of two prehistoric sharks deep within that very same cave! How on earth could that be true?
We can certainly claim the truth of the Flood in Genesis as the means.
I wonder how many tourists, myself included, were walking within feet of that amazing discovery, and never even knew it.
And, if that significant find was unearthed, how much more is still yet to be discovered in the cracks and crevices?
You will never know what can be found until you begin to search.
Isaiah 34:16 tells us that we are to "seek out the word of the Lord, and read."
Why? Because "...all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" can be found within the scriptures. (Colossians 2:1-3)
The wisdom that we need to face every situation is found in scripture. The direction that we need to confidently seek God's will for our lives is found in scripture. The truth of God's unending love for us is found in scripture.
Great mysteries, revelations, promises, prophecies, and so much more. It is all there to be discovered and revealed. We just have to search for it.
The Lord says, "Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. (Jeremiah 33:3)
God desires to reveal to each of us great and wonderful things. There is no better time than today to begin your search.
The question is, "Are you willing to search for it?"
