June was a typical slow month for Tate County Justice Court even though the department enjoyed a revenue increase for the fifth consecutive month.
Justice Court Clerk Stacey Suddoth presented her monthly report Monday, July 1 to the Board of Supervisors and announced $45,099 was collected the previous month compared to $39,000 in June of 2023.
Suddoth said 55 warrants were served last month as local law enforcement continues to put a dent in the remaining 2,158 outstanding warrants.
Supervisors approved a few county personnel changes including Junior Flippo as solid waste manager, solid waste enforcement officer and assistant purchasing clerk. Stephanie Huddleston, director of human resources and payroll manager, added assistant receiving clerk to her duties.
Supervisors authorized several items on the consent agenda including:
• Approved circuit clerk and election commissioner claims for services for purging the poll books (Wooten-$660.00; Johnston-$550.00; Dowl-$550.00; Floate-$440.00; E. Blount- $550.00; K. Blount-$550.00).
• Spread on the minutes acknowledging receipt of the monthly credit card report for the previous month.
• Spread on the minutes acknowledging receipt of the comparative budget report for the previous month.
• Approved a payroll claim of $2,035.00 for 11 completed reports for Coroner Ernie Lentz.
• Approved a payroll claim of $555.00 for three completed reports for Deputy Coroner Whitney Nickels.
• Approved a payroll claim of $370.00 for two completed reports for Deputy Coroner Jeffrey Sowell.
• Approved justice court settlement in the amount of $45,099.08 and warrant list.
• Approved travel (including registration, mileage, meals, and lodging if necessary) for Sherra Stricklen, Mandy Hartsfield and Melanie Phillips to attend the 2024 MAGPPA
Annual Conference in Biloxi, Oct. 27-30.
• Approved travel (including registration, mileage, meals if necessary) for Melanie
Phillips to attend the 2024 Certification Training for County Purchasing Clerks July 30,
2024 in Oxford.
• Approved authorization to execute requisitions list.
