Senatobia received its share of accolades at the Mississippi Main Street Association awards luncheon.
The annual ceremony held Thursday, June 20, honors directors, board members, and volunteers and recognizes the most outstanding downtown revitalization projects and events from designated Main Street communities throughout Mississippi.
Senatobia Mayor Greg Graves was named a Main Street Hero for his continued support of Senatobia Main Street and its efforts to revitalize downtown.
Beast & Brews, a wild game cook-off and beer festival in Pocket Park in downtown Senatobia, won an award for Outstanding Creative Event. Guaranty Bank & Trust Company and Senatobia Main Street were also included in the statewide Main Street Circle of Excellence.
“Big things are happening in our little town,” said Senatobia Main Street Director Jamie Sowell. “Hold on because there is more to come.”
In celebration of Mississippi Main Street Association’s 40th anniversary, special remarks were made at the awards luncheon by Governor Tate Reeves; Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann; Katie Blount, executive director of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History; and Leah Kemp, executive director of the Fred Carl Jr. Small Town Center.
“2024 is a special year as we celebrate 40 years of Main Street and remember our founders and the leaders who have gotten our statewide organization to where we are today,” said Jim Miller, MMSA Executive Director. “Main Street programs are an important economic driver in our state, and we honor and celebrate the local and state champions each year at our annual awards.”
