A manhunt is currently active in Tate County following an armed assault against Tate County Sheriff’s Office deputies early Saturday afternoon.
TCSO responded to a call near Independence High School Saturday, Feb. 10 around noon.
TCSO released a statement on social media at 5:15 p.m. that Kenneth Ray Graham was wanted for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
Tate County Sheriff Luke Shepherd urges the public to respond with any information on Graham following his assault on deputies.
“No officers were hit or injured, but he opened fire with a rifle on deputies upon their arrival to his residence,” said Shepherd.
A text from the Tate County emergency alert system was issued at 12:53 p.m. The message said there was a heavy law enforcement presence in the area around the high school and to avoid the vicinity of Highway 305 between House Road and Poagville Road due to barricade from police. Senatobia Police Department and Desoto County Sheriff’s Department responded to aid TCSO in the search for the suspect.
Graham was last seen in the vicinity of the 2900 block of Highway 305. He was wearing blue jeans and a light blue and white striped button-down shirt, and cowboy boots.
The search is ongoing at this time. Anyone with information should contact TCSO 662-560-5692 or call 911. TCSO warns residents to not attempt to make contact with Graham and he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
