Anthony “Tony” Ray Smith
Anthony “Tony” Ray Smith, 69, of Clinton, MS, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Tony’s most prized possession was his family. His sons could count on a phone call every evening check on everyone and to see how their day was. Greeting them with a “What’s up Homie?” and hearing their voices was his favorite way to end the day. His granddaughter, Lillie, more lovingly known as “BooBoo”, was the light of Tony’s life! The two of them loved to “sneak away” for their ice cream dates at Sonic. Tony was her best friend and biggest supporter. The same went for his sons, also. Tony raised the boys to be exceptional men and their Dad was immensely proud of them! After working for forty years as a lineman for Entergy, he retired and enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, metal detecting, and watching the food network. Tony is survived by his sons, Jason Smith (Goldie) of Pearl, MS, Jacob Smith (Lissa) of Canton, MS, and Daniel Gallagher (Paige) of Raymond, MS; his granddaughter, Lillie Smith, of Canton, MS; one sister, Vickie Freeman (Wendell) of Wyatt, MS; his sister-in-law, Connie Smith of Senatobia, MS; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Smith and Ernestine Smith and two brothers, Tim Smith and Terry Smith. Graveside services were held Friday, May 24, 2024 at Senatobia Memorial Cemetery, with Bro. Hal Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
